Shirtdresses

I adore shirtdresses. They’re modern and dressy without being too “Why are you so dressed up?”

The one pictured above is by Suzi Chin Maggy Boutique. I think it would flatter many figure types as well as hide some sins. This BCBG shirtdress is a bit more casual and youthful but again it would work on a lot of bodies — just don’t wear it to a wedding, mkay? Banana Republic’s shirtdress comes in indigo; did I mention that navy blue and its kin will be huge this spring? I think so.

One drawback to all these dresses is that they’re short-sleeved and it’s January. But they all have a waist and after seasons of swing shapes and trapeze tops it’s time to show off. If you’re cold turn up the heat or something.

Dittos: Bringing ’70s Back

Penned by molly in Classics

In the mid-1970s Dittos Jeans were the luxury denim of their time. They were tight, high-rise and made your behind look like you’d sprayed the pants on. Their slogan was “Dittos: The Line Forms In The Rear.” They were tighter than tight. And they’re coming back in colors such as grass green and sky blue. It’s been a long winter for dark-dark jeans. These should hit the spot.

Resort: Anthropologie

Penned by molly in Resort

Catalog-slut favorite Anthropologie has pulled through with a resort wear guide reflecting fantasy far-flung locales. It’s looking good. And lucky me, I’ve been to one of their destinations: Virgin Gorda. Picture rum drinks with fresh nutmeg and conch fritters. It’s splendid.

As much as I love a vacation scenario, you’ve got to be practical. Someone should tell Anthropologie about better footwear; promoting flat, one-strap leather sandals in Vietnam is foolhardy.

Today I weeded out my sock drawer for mismatches and never-wears. Tomorrow I’m back to posting. Happy new year, missed you.
