Ugly Shoes, A Redux

New York Magazine ran a story called “Ugly Shoes: A Brief History” and I’m guilty on four counts.
Crocs, check (although I think at this point they’re only appropriate for outdoorsy water activities)
Doc Martens, check, worn throughout college
Birkentstocks, check, now retired
Dansko clogs, wearing them as I type this (pictured above)
Interesting that the shoes on the NY Mag’s list are all comfort models. Maybe that’s why the these styles caught on with the public. I cannot handle sore feet — it makes me angry and want to go home. I like wearing supportive, comfortable shoes. Somewhere there is a photo of me headed to junior prom wearing flats.

Hmm… are those Dr. Scholl’s wood soled sandals too pretty for this list? I hate Birkenstocks with a passion, but Uggs are awesome –I bought before the craze, even.
And c’mon. Crocs are so comfortable and practical for gardening too. Haters just like to have blisters on their feet. Maybe they ARE haters on account of the blisters on their feet.
I think it’s funny that people hate Birks so much.. I wore a pair of their shoes for years and had them resoled. If you wear the right pants no one knows you’re wearing round shoes.
The Dansko’s now come in some fun colors now (periwinkle for last summer and green leopard for winter) - I agree for those of us who have to walk further than the valet to the bar stool, shoes need to feel good x 12 hrs!
